Printing and Distribution Solutions (PDS) commitment to providing the best quality services and products has allowed us to become a full service printing, promotional and mail services partner to the UNT community.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for performing journey level, skilled finishing tasks in bindery. Duties include setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex bindery equipment including cutting, stamping, stitching, trimming, pressing and binding machines; performing repairs on equipment; and other duties such as tracking inventory and serving as a resource to others.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma and three years of bindery services experience.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Skill in the operation of related bindery equipment.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the functions and capabilities of bindery equipment.
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, and equipment used in the bindery processes.
  • Has a keen eye for quality control and be able to identify errors.
  • Ability to quickly detect mechanical malfunctioning of bindery equipment.
  • Ability to lift 25-100 pounds.
  • Ability to make computations and tabulations.
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

Job Duties

  • Operates and oversees multiple pieces of complex bindery equipment effectively.
  • Reads work orders and sets up equipment according to project specifications.
  • Reads work orders and sets up equipment according to project specifications.
  • Understands oral and written instructions and departmental procedures to operate equipment at a high level of quality and with minimal spoilage.
  • Organizes projects and sets priorities to ensure projects are completed efficiently and accurately, while acting as a resource for others in handling more complex issues.
  • Uses computers and other office equipment and departmental MIS system to produce accurate billing and reporting of time and materials usage.
  • Maintains equipment properly, performing scheduled preventative maintenance and performing minor repairs when needed.

Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.
