The Benefits Specialist administers the organization’s benefits programs (e.g., retirement plans, leave policies, wellness programs, insurance policies, EPA, etc.). Manages enrollment, renewal, and distribution processes. Assists employees with benefits issues.
This job is onsite 5 days a week.
Role Priorities / Responsibilities:
Demonstrates experience working with a full array of benefit programs.
Demonstrates fluency in benefit concepts and designs.
Administers employee and group benefits programs including medical, dental, life and disability, PTO.
Administers leaves of absence programs (medical, personal, FMLA) and ensures return to work status is in compliance with Stallion’s return to work policy and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
Assists with activities pertaining to open enrollment and mid-year changes to benefit plans
Assists in the daily maintenance of the company’s 401(k) savings plans
Assists in the execution of overall benefits communication strategy including new hire orientation materials, enrollment materials, ongoing employee communications, exit materials, annual enrollment, and new plans/changes.
Develops proactive communications strategy to increase awareness of preventative health initiatives including mental health, dental, medical, and any new company benefit.
Assists with the management of annual benefits renewal process and work-plan activities
Maintains compliance with all state and federal guidelines and preparations reports, document postings and applications required by law
Participates in all facets of annual benefits renewal process
Responsible for coordinating all required reports and documents to assist auditors and brokers in year-end audits, 5500 generation, and discrimination testing
Assists in development and updating company’s employee benefits policies and procedures
Responsible for ensuring benefits deductions are accurate in conjunction with payroll.
Administer contributions in HSA and 401(k) in the Fidelity system and ensure accuracy in conjunction with payroll.
Conducts audits of all benefits programs and provides reports as needed.
Other Responsibilities (may include):
Serves as a liaison between the Benefits department and Field offices and provides Benefits support to Field office staff and management
Responds to employee questions regarding Benefits matters, as appropriate
Assists with the implementation, enforcement, and communication of Benefits policies and services
Assists in special HR and Benefits projects as assigned
May assist the HR Team in new employee screening, processing and hiring
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to handle multiple priorities
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health and welfare, group insurance plans and leave policies
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer-service orientation
Must be proficient in Microsoft application suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Competency with ADP or other enterprise systems
Strong working knowledge of HRIS platforms
Knowledgeable in ACA reporting and tax requirements
Education or Certification required (if applicable):
HR or related bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
5 – 8 years of HR and benefits experience preferred
Benefits certifications a plus
