Description

The Benefits Specialist administers employee benefit plans ensuring compliance with plan documents and government regulations.

Compensation Data: Non-exempt hourly pay starting at $30/hr based upon experience.

Travel: Up to 15%

Location: REMOTE - Must live in EST or CST. M-F, regular business hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs day to day administration of employee benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and savings plan.
  • Oversees relationships with third-party vendors and works closely with benefit consultants to ensure a smooth and beneficial employee experience.
  • Performs benefit orientations, assists employees with enrollments, updates participant information on carrier websites, prepares monthly invoices and manages COBRA administration.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for local, state and federal agencies. Understands requirements for OSHA, Worker’s Comp and EEO reporting and applies knowledge to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reported information.
  • Collaborates with human resource team members to provide quality service to plan participants.
  • Maintains employee records ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Oversees the interfaces between internal and third-party systems and resolves technical issues in coordination with IT and third-party vendors.
  • Creates and runs reports as required for department, financial and operational reporting and audits.
  • Produces data analytics to support the plans’ administration and data requests from internal management and external consultants.
  • Works with HR Leadership Team to identify benefit trends and cost drivers and provides input to plan design change considerations.

Education & Qualifications

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or equivalent experience required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' related experience in employee benefit administration.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation preferred.
  • Experience with Paylocity, including report writing abilities preferred.

Competencies

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational, planning and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks against tight deadlines, maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite of products, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to successfully establish effective interpersonal relationships with a variety of management and staff and work independently toward project deliverables.
  • Exposure to Fair Labor Standards Act, ERISA, COBRA, ACA, EEO and other relevant federal regulations.
