Behavioral Health Technician (24/25 SY)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following.

  • Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Consult with teachers and instructional assistants on comprehensive campuses to develop targeted interventions for students when the school teams need to explore alternative strategies.
  • Assist teachers and instructional assistants in identifying and addressing student academic and behavioral needs.
  • Describe and model for teachers and instructional assistants evidence-based teaching strategies, techniques, and adaptations to meet the academic and behavioral needs of students.
  • Provide follow up support to school based staff on the training, implementation, and evaluation of positive behavior intervention plans.
  • Provide guidance and training to teachers in adapting instructional materials and lesson plans to enable students to access the general curriculum.
  • Communicate frequently with parents, students and staff including the exchange of accurate information.
  • Communicate with the Director of Student Services and the Assistant Director of School Counseling Services on the status of students receiving supports.
  • CPI trained and certified.
  • Exhibit professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the work unit.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of the educational system and its critical components including State/Federal regulations and ethical/legal responsibilities applicable to occupational therapy in a school
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with parents and district personnel at all
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint clearance card
  • Experience and knowledge in the principles of applied behavior analysis including the development of behavior assessments and positive behavior intervention
  • Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with district staff and site team
  • Ability to contribute and participate in the assessment, intervention and documentation
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer software programs including all Microsoft
  • Familar with MTSS and/or other intervention
  • Positive Behavior Strategies Support

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; type/keyboard; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand and walk, occasionally required to position body by bending body downward and forward by waist and crawl to reach in specific spaces to access cable/cords. Employee must on occasions lift, raise, and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required.
