Position Summary

Provide supervision, oversight and coordination of all phases of banquet activity on a daily basis. This includes ensuring that all service standards, department policies and hotel policies are followed by banquet employees. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires flexibility in scheduling.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for consistently implementing the service standards and operating procedures in the banquets dept.
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure client needs are met.
  • Supervise events and team members throughout service.
  • Guide the banquet servers in setup of tables and place settings.
  • Become familiar with all current and upcoming event details.
  • Resolve staff and client concerns quickly and efficiently.
  • Scheduling of banquet staff, prepare weekly duty charts to correspond with banquet functions and manage labor.
  • Responsible for monthly inventory, consumption spreadsheet and banquet staff labor hours.
  • Communicate event details with the banquet houseperson team.
  • Coordinate details of setup/breakdown between banquet housepersons and banquet servers.
  • Support the Food and Beverage Manager with time and attendance/ payroll-related items.
  • Coordinating and executing banquet dept. staff meetings.
  • Coordinating details with corresponding depts. such as housekeeping, front desk, bell, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervising of the entire banquet team including: banquet captains/ banquet servers/banquet bar staff and banquet housemen in an orderly, supportive manner.

Education And Work Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar supervisory position with a 4 or 5 star property rating.
  • Previous hospitality industry experience preferred

Knowledge And Skills

Should have a knowledge of etiquette, good communication skills and work well under pressure.

RBS Certified

California food handler card

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability And Computer Skills

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
