The professionals at Citi Community Capital ("CCC") underwrite and close construction and permanent loans that are used to finance the new construction and preservation of affordable and workforce rental housing. CCC is the community lending and investing arm of Citigroup (“Citi”), housed in the Spread Products vertical. Unique among its peers, CCC provides a comprehensive array of financial products including lending and equity investments designed to create strong communities and contribute toward Citibank’s Community Reinvestment Act (“CRA”) performance. CCC works with for-profit and non-profit developers, as well as state and local government agencies on both straightforward and highly structured transactions that may use a combination of taxable and tax-exempt loans or bonds, Low Income Housing Tax Credit equity, and governmental and private subsidies. CCC provides capital directly or as an intermediary. CCC is a construction lender and a permanent lender, a Fannie Mae DUS lender and a Freddie Mac Optigo lender. CCC is seeking an experienced banker with a history of success to join our team in New York, NY to originate construction and permanent loans for affordable housing projects primarily focused on New York and the other Northeast markets.

Position Responsibilities

  • Market CCC’s lending and other products to new and existing relationships.
  • Manage client relationships and deal teams from initial client contact through loan closing and beyond.
  • Deliver the best-in-class customer service and execution that clients expect of CCC.
  • Work with a team of executing bankers and analysts to analyze opportunities, by using internal Excel and other models to review project feasibility, sponsor financials, market conditions, overall viability, and profitability.
  • Review and issue term sheets and loan applications.
  • Participate in the transaction approval process, including Citi’s risk management review, to move transactions through internal processes in a timely matter so that closing deadlines are met.
  • Review, comment, and sign loan closing documents.
  • Mentor executing bankers, analysts and other members of the team for growth and development.
  • Assist asset management on client engagement needs, annual reviews and other on-going relationship management needs.
  • Monitor and review existing loan portfolio to identify refinance opportunities.

Preferred Experience And Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degrees with emphasis in real estate, business or economics.
  • Significant experience in the multifamily affordable rental housing lending (10+ years) industry including a strong understanding of construction and permanent lending including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac products.
  • Thorough knowledge of 4% & 9% LIHTC programs, tax-exempt and taxable bond and note issuance, sub-debt, Section 8, TIF financing, tax abatements, and other incentive programs for affordable rental housing.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized individual able to manage a large volume of activities
  • When hired, the candidate will be required to pass all relevant FINRA exams and licensing requirements

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$200,000.00 - $300,000.00
