BAND DIRECTOR

ANTICIPATED OPENING BRATTLEBORO UNION HIGH SCHOOL BAND DIRECTOR The Windham Southeast School District (WSESD) is an increasingly diverse community with an ongoing commitment to social justice and anti-racism. We are looking for enthusiastic professionals to join us in furthering this work. Brattleboro Union High School is seeking a music educator to teach high school band, jazz band, instrumental lessons, and a music elective class. Band and lessons are taught during the school day. Jazz Band meets one evening each week. Stipends are provided for all aspects of the job that entail working outside of the school day. Candidates must have a strong background in woodwind, brass, and percussion pedagogy for a range of ability levels. Expertise in a wide range of musical styles is essential, as are strong conducting and ensemble leadership skills. This teacher must be committed to reaching a wide range of learners while maintaining high standards and must be capable of designing curricula and assessments within a proficiency-based system. They must hold or be eligible to obtain a Vermont teaching license with a music endorsement. A master's degree is preferred. Brattleboro area schools and communities have a long tradition of valuing and supporting excellence in music education. The area's rich musical heritage and resources include the Brattleboro Music Center, Vermont Jazz Center, Marlboro Music Festival, and Yellow Barn Music Festival. Successful candidates will be able to discuss their expertise and experience working with students from historically marginalized demographic groups.
