Overton ISD's band program has participated in the state Military Marching Band competition for the past two years in a row. This year, the band was awarded the State Sweepstakes earning a #1 division rating in Marching, Concert and Sight Reading.

Education/Certification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Knowledge of subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage classroom behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
