Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Information Security to join our team. This role is critical in safeguarding our organization's information assets by leading our incident response and detection engineering efforts. The AVP will oversee a team of talented analysts across the US and India, ensuring robust security operations and continuous improvement in our security posture.

Key Responsibilities

Incident Response:

  • Lead the incident response team to efficiently handle security incidents, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans, playbooks, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify, contain, and remediate security incidents.
  • Conduct post-incident analysis to determine root cause and implement preventive measures.

Detection Engineering

  • Design, implement, and maintain advanced threat detection systems and tools.
  • Strong experience with automation within a SOAR platform and through programming knowledge.
  • Develop and tune detection rules, alerts, and signatures to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with security operations to enhance threat detection capabilities and reduce false positives.
  • Stay current with emerging threats and evolving attack techniques to update detection mechanisms accordingly.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a distributed team of security analysts located in the US and India.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture, promoting continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Set performance objectives, conduct regular evaluations, and provide feedback to team members.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between teams across different time zones.

Strategic Planning And Execution

  • Execute the strategic vision for the incident response and detection engineering functions.
  • Identify and implement best practices, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance security operations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align security initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and vendor relationships to support security operations.

Reporting And Compliance

  • Generate and present regular reports on security incidents, detection metrics, KRIs, and overall security posture to executive management.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Participate in security audits and assessments, addressing findings and implementing corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in information security, with a focus on incident response, DFIR, and detection engineering.
  • Direct experience with crisis management and coordinating activities during large incidents.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing distributed security teams.
  • Direct experience with MITRE ATT&CK, Breach and Attack Simulation tools, SIEM technologies, strong network fundamentals, understanding of zero trust principles,
  • Strong understanding of threat detection technologies, incident response methodologies, and security best practices.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, OSCP, or similar are highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
