Avionics Technician
Job Description
Avionics Technicians perform a variety of maintenance tasks including inspection, operational test, repair, modification, and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components, and equipment. Technicians apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other employees as needed. Responsibilities include testing and troubleshooting of weapons systems, avionics/electrical systems, and various subsystems, as well as providing technical support during aircrew debriefs. Technicians must be able to read and interpret blueprints, technical directives, and safety manuals. Work may involve lifting objects up to 70 pounds, exposure to various weather conditions, high noise levels, fumes, and electrical shock hazards. Off-site service on assigned detachments may also be required.
Hard Skills
- Advanced technical knowledge of aircraft systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical directives
- Troubleshooting weapons systems and complex avionics
This is a permanent position.
Work Environment
The work environment includes hangar, shop, and flight line settings. Shift work is necessary, and technicians must be open to working various shifts including early mornings and late nights with shift differentials offered. The role involves up to 20-30% travel for off-site service.
