An Oliver Wyman Vector Avionics Engineer will work with customers and suppliers to develop complete engineering packages for aircraft avionics and electrical modifications, upgrades, and maintenance. This includes researching, designing, planning, and supporting all phases of the modification/upgrade projects. They will primarily be responsible for evaluating and supporting engineering projects for multiple clients (operators and aviation supply chains) and fleet types. Knowledge of industry or cross industry best practices, process evaluation/improvement methodologies, and project management are preferred. Remote/Virtual positions are available based on location and experience. Some travel required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop complete engineering packages for aircraft avionics/electrical modifications and installations of systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customer engineering department, or independent of, to develop engineering for aircraft avionics and electrical systems, which can include system analysis, specification evaluation, and integration reports
  • Generate/Interpret engineering drawings which may include Wiring Diagrams, Electrical Load Analysis, Modification, Installation, and/or Repair of Components (avionics and electrical)
  • Participate in vendor coordination meetings, both on and off site
  • Provide on-site engineering support for aircraft modifications if requested/required by customer
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to avionics systems during development, testing, and operation phases
  • Perform system testing, verification, and validation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices


Education and Experience:

  • Preferred experience in an airline avionics/electrical maintenance, maintenance repair and overhaul engineering, or military aviation environment
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university, or equivalent experience/training
  • Base knowledge of 14 CFR regarding Part 121 airline operations and Part 145 maintenance


Skills and Attributes:

  • Familiarity and experience with some or all of the following aircraft systems: Communications, Navigation, Auto Flight, Indicating / Recording, Flight Deck Displays, Information Systems, Lighting, electrical,
  • Familiarity with airworthiness certification processes of regulatory agencies (e.g. FAA, EASA, etc.)
  • Must have base working knowledge of CFRs with emphasis on part 25 and part 121 and relevant aviation regulations and certifications, such as DO-178C, DO-254
  • Ability to create, read, and decipher:
  • Engineering Orders
  • Change Requests
  • IPCs
  • CMMs
  • Wiring Diagrams
  • System Schematic Drawings
  • Electrical Load Analysis
  • Engineering drawings
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, and the aptitude to learn customized company software programs
  • Has the ability to manage workload across multiple projects
  • Proficient in technical writing styles
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Experience with SCEPTRE a plus
  • Customer Service oriented with ability to adapt to a fast paced and changing work environment
  • Ability to be productive in a team environment and interface professionally, credibly, and objectively with colleagues and clients
  • Self-directed, resourceful, willing to take initiative, work independently, and solve problems with minimal supervision
  • Pays attention to detail and is a champion for accuracy and quality

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.


In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
