Audio/FX Technician


XL Event Lab requires experienced Audio/FX Technicians for a 6 month contract with an immediate start. This is a fly in/fly out role working away from home at one of our event sites each weekend. The typical working week will run from Thursday to Sunday with Thursday and Friday being set up days.


Successful applicants will join a team of touring event professionals and support staff who are responsible for the successful delivery and execution of ‘The Big Bounce America’ a high capacity, family-friendly touring event experience that welcome up to 11,000 guests in a typical weekend. 


We are looking for an experienced professional to help our onsite team with all sound, light and FX needs.

We design and execute experiences for an expanding base of customers and oversee a portfolio of established events in various markets. Selling both to entertainment buyers and directly to the ticket buying public, XL Event Lab typically produces over 500 events in an average year.

 

The Role


We are looking for an experienced Audio & FX technician to run sound and FX across our event site. The current audio setup is relatively straightforward. All audio is pre-recorded and is  delivered by our DJs via standard DJ controllers. There is no live music. FX on site includes Snow Machines, Bubble Machines and confetti blasters installed on upright truss pieces at various locations around the site. 


Primary Responsibilities

  • Assists with loading and unloading of all event hardware. 
  • Inspects and identifies equipment or inventory in need of repair or maintenance.
  • Performs equipment maintenance including but not limited to speaker repair, quality control analysis, etc. 
  • Set Up Audio and basic FX Equipment
  • Operate and Troubleshoot Sound, Light and FX
  • Adhere to all safety and equipment operating protocols


Required Experience / Skills

  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior management.
  • Knowledge of A/V & basic FX / lighting equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot A/V & lighting equipment independently
  • Valid driver's licence with clean record required.


Desired Experience / Skills / Certifications

  • Experience working in similar environments working with audio/visual equipment


Details

  • $500 day rate. Minimum 2 days, maximum 4 days per week (Paid as Contractor / 1099) 
  • Travel and Hotel Accommodations included



Contractors are expected to work independently to complete the set daily tasks and may be required to use tools and specialist equipment to complete these tasks.
