The Attorney will perform legal research, draft legal opinions and memorandums, and provide house counsel advice to DHCS programs. The Attorney will draft a variety of documents, assist in applying law to specific factual situations, support trial counsel in litigation, and represent DHCS in administrative hearings before various tribunals, including the State Personnel Board and Office of Administrative Hearings. As an Attorney in OLS, you may be assigned to support any of the Department's Divisions, including areas supporting health care delivery systems, financing, privacy, benefits, program integrity, behavioral health, etc. Experience in health care law, administrative or civil litigation, privacy, contracting and/or health care financing is beneficial but not required. Under the direction of Assistant Chief Counsels, and the general direction of the Chief Counsel and Deputy Chief Counsel, the Attorney will be responsible for broad health care related work, including the provision of advice and working with senior leadership in one or more of the following areas: privacy and information services, public contracting, health care benefits, managed care, behavioral health, financing, human resources, administration and more.
