In 2021, Samsung announced a new facility in Taylor, Texas, where it plans to invest a minimum $17 billion in the build-out. The site spans 1,200+ acres and the first phase of development will have 4.7 million square feet of floor space consisting of a cluster of semiconductor manufacturing buildings such as a fab, office, parking garage, central utility building, and special utility supply facilities. The Taylor facility will boost the production of semiconductor solutions that will power next-generation technologies in areas like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and high performance computing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Job Summary/Overview:

Main job function is to provide legal support for all types of transactions relevant to SAS business, including:

  • Drafting and negotiating contracts
  • Reviewing and supporting proposals, RFQs, LOIs, NDAs and similar processes
  • Performing post-execution contract reviews and providing summaries
  • Coordinating appropriate commercial and technical approvals, including with Samsung entities in Korea
  • Implementing SAS Legal policies
  • Helping shape and execute SAS’s approach to transactions and business strategy.

Other job functions may include:

  • Providing supplemental support in other legal areas as needed, such as compliance, labor and employment, litigation, IP, trade and immigration matters
  • Driving improvement of Legal operations, including preparing forms, playbooks and policies, coordinating adoption of legal support tools and software, and supporting department projects
  • Assisting with mentorship, growth and management of paralegal staff.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Provide legal advice, negotiation and drafting of transactions; provide supplemental legal advice where needed for compliance, labor and employment law, litigation, IP, trade and immigration matters.
  • Oversee outside counsel and paralegals
  • Work on Legal operation improvements and projects.

Shift: 1st - 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM M-F

Skills and Qualifications:

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required:

  • JD degree w/ at least 3 years of legal experience. Experience in manufacturing or semiconductor industry is a plus but not necessary.
  • License to practice law in Texas required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools:

Provide legal advice in the area of contract negotiation
