The Atlanta Sports Council (ASC), a division of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, facilitates the growth and development of sports in metro Atlanta by serving as a recruiter for major regional, national, and international sports events. The organization plays an important role in improving the quality of life for residents in the region through sports, working to drive economic growth and visibility and acting as an advocate for area teams and annual sports events. The ASC also serves as the lead organization for planning and executing the largest sporting events in the region including the upcoming 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship, 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball Southeast Regional and the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Position Summary

The Atlanta Sports Council Community Relations Intern will report to the Director of Community Relations and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day volunteer program for the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship. In addition, this position will assist with all community relations activities and other duties as assigned. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week. (Required to work nights and weekends as needed).

The duration of the internship will run from August 2024 through January 31, 2025. Candidates must commit to being completely available the entire month of January. No vacation January 6 - 31 in preparation for the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the support of and execution of a comprehensive, professional and “first class” volunteer program to serve the needs of the College Football Playoff (CFP) staff and the Atlanta Football Host Committee (AFHC).
  • Manage volunteer system (Rosterfy).
    • Day-to-day updates within the system.
    • Pull reports as needed.
    • Build shifts for events.
    • Send communications to volunteers.
    • Assist in interviewing volunteer lead roles.
    • Participate in training meetings with Rosterfy.
  • Responsible for monitoring the volunteer email account and staying up to date in communication with any volunteer questions or requests.
  • Coordinate with other notable volunteer organizations to leverage their existing volunteer databases as needed for volunteer recruitment.
  • Responsible for receiving, storing and issuance of volunteer kits.
  • Work with marketing team on development of all digital and print materials for volunteers.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the volunteer training sessions.
  • Manage volunteer headquarters throughout CFP National Championship week.
  • Assist with internal and external planning meetings.
Looking for a highly organized, friendly, and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills. Must be able to work effectively in a publicly visible, high pressure and deadline-oriented environment. Must be highly motivated and exhibit good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education And/or Experience

College degree required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel required. Familiarity with volunteer systems preferred.

Language Skills

English. Additional language(s) is a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

Other Skills

Positive, energetic attitude and ability to work in a group environment. Previous sports business experience and familiarity with sports (as a whole) preferred.
