Essential Functions (include But Are Not Limited To)
I. Athletic Director: The Athletic Director (AD) is responsible for leading the RKHS Athletics Program by ensuring the safety, development, and academic and athletic success of all participating students. The AD works collaboratively with the school leadership team, teachers, and counselors to develop guidelines for monitoring and supporting student athletes’ academic, athletic, and personal growth. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Logistics
Plan, schedule, and coordinate all athletics games, practices, and other events.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate all team transportation (Bus request, RKHS van, public transportation).
Obtain necessary permits and facilities reservations and officials/referees.
Prepare reports, records, and forms required to document departmental activities.
Serve as the primary leader, contact, and supervisor at RKHS athletics events.
Communication
Develop, monitor, communicate and maintain a calendar of sporting events.
Proactively communicate with stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, coaches, community) via Parent Square, specifically upcoming events and statistics for the season.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all policies of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and other athletics leagues as applicable.
Develop, communicate, implement, and monitor expectations, programs, values, and policies that hold students and coaches to high conduct standards of sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for self and others.
Culture
Develop a culture of discipline, joy, and pride in the athletics program.
Measure, monitor, and adapt to ensure equity of access and participation for all students and student population subgroups.
Welcome students and parents to campus in the morning and conduct lunch supervision, as schedule permits.
Business
Represent RKHS in matters concerning athletics and special events to internal and external audiences at meetings, trainings and workshops (Back to School Night, Registration, Orientation, Step Up Days, etc.).
Recruit, interview, and hire team coaches for all sports.
Hold regular meetings with RKHS coaches to ensure they have what they need to be successful.
Maintain a detailed budget of expenditures, to be shared with the Dean of Operations.
Acquire, maintain, clean, and repair sports equipment as needed.
Operations
Recruit, interview, and hire team coaches for all sports.
Hold regular meetings with RKHS coaches to ensure they have what they need to be successful.
Maintain coach and athlete records and game information on HomeCampus, ArbiterSports, MaxPreps
Update athletic documentation to include school policies.
Qualifications/Requirements
Must have a valid driver’s license and get cleared to drive the RKHS athletic van.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) recommended.
Must be organized, creative, independent and self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail-oriented, flexible in scheduling and prioritization, and driven by excellence.
Must possess good communication skills to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form, including accurate grammar and business correspondence knowledge.
Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships; demonstrated ability to communicate in situations requiring tact and poise; skilled in confidentiality and discretion.
Salary And Benefits
Salary: Placement on the Bright Star Schools’ Dean salary scale is dependent on years of experience.
Status: Full-time, exempt
Location: Rise Kohyang High School in Koreatown, CA
