Job Overview
The Athletic Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and administration of the athletic programs. This includes coordinating and promoting athletic activities and events, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management:
Oversee the daily operations of the athletic department.
Develop and implement strategic plans for the athletics program.
Recruit, supervise, and evaluate coaching staff.
Promote a culture of sportsmanship, integrity, and academic excellence.
Program Development:
Plan, organize, and direct athletic activities and events.
Develop and manage budgets for the athletics department.
Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
Work with the community and stakeholders to enhance support for athletic programs.
Student-Athlete Support:
Foster a supportive environment for student-athletes.
Monitor academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes.
Provide resources and support for student-athlete development and well-being.
Facilities & Equipment:
Oversee the maintenance and improvement of athletic facilities.
Manage the procurement and upkeep of athletic equipment.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in athletic administration, coaching or other administrative fields.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Knowledge of MHSAA or other relevant athletic regulations.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
