Asst. Professor of Psychology

Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the assistant professor level in psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences, beginning fall 2023. 


Trinity is one of the nation’s historic women’s colleges, now also a Predominantly Black and Hispanic Serving Institution. Approximately 900 women enroll in the College of Arts & Sciences, Trinity’s full-time undergraduate program. This position will have close and cooperative collegial working relationships with Psychology and faculty in related disciplines who teach in other academic units at Trinity.


The Psychology program seeks dynamic educators having expertise in the areas of social and/or cognitive psychology, with ability to teach Research Methods in Psychology. Candidates should be prepared to teach Social Psychology courses, Applied Psychology, Introductory Psychology and other courses as required.


Trinity has received significant support to develop expertise in pedagogy that reflects the practice of inclusive excellence, and faculty candidates should be able to demonstrate familiarity with inclusive excellence principles or related pedagogy. Trinity’s model of inclusive excellence pedagogy includes significant opportunities for mentoring as well as undergraduate research and experiential learning opportunities. Candidates for this faculty position should be able to demonstrate clear ability to create and deliver high-impact learning experiences that engage students with the Washington regional community.


In addition to teaching and curricular development responsibilities, expectations for this position include active scholarship/research or professional achievements in a specific area of expertise. In addition, faculty engage in service to Trinity through participation and leadership in program development initiatives, creation of new courses and innovative pedagogies, participation in special projects of importance to the program and the college, work on accreditation activities and participation on faculty committees.


QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Ph.D. in Psychology (or ABD). Trinity particularly seeks candidates who have experience offering in person courses as well as hybrid/ online teaching. Additionally, a demonstrated ability to guide and support students in a range of experiential learning activities including practicum/internship experiences is highly valued.
