Primary Purpose Of Organizational Unit
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.
Position Summary
Position reports to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance with responsibility to assist with developing, implementing, coordinating, and administering NCAA , ACC and UNC compliance initiatives related to all aspects of compliance. Program will be responsible for monitoring NCAA , ACC and UNC rules and regulations associated with current student-athletes, former student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, Department of Athletics staff members, University faculty and staff members and representatives of athletics interests.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Minimum four to six years experience in NCAA compliance. Experience with NCAA Eligibility Center and LLSDBi.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
NCAA Division I FBS preferred.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
May be required to navigate stairs. Must be able to manage a fast-paced, high volume office environment. Attention to detail essential. Computer skills essental. Must be able to work some evenings, nights, weekends as required.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
