Description

Salary Range: $80,000-$88,000

Position Summary

The Associate VP of Child Care Services is responsible for supporting and managing the $4.2 million-dollar childcare programs, in addition to the day-to-day business operations of all School Age Child Care programs, Early Learning Center, UPK, Pre-school and Camps for SRYMCA. The ideal candidate will have noticeable experience ensuring high-quality enrichment and child care programming.

Essential Functions

  • Strategically lead the YMCA's Childcare department; including licensed daycare, before and after school, day camp programs, preschool, and Universal Pre-k. Innovate and provide vision to ensure sustainability across all programs.
  • Lead, develop, and implement strategies to ensure programs achieve enrollment goals identified in Y's annual operating plan.
  • Effectively communicate program details to necessary departments, oversee quality control and curriculum development for youth development programs, and lead initiatives to create nurturing, child-centered environments with volunteer and family involvement.
  • Oversee the distribution of ongoing program member evaluations and surveys to ensure that high levels of quality in programs are maintained at all times; ensure outcomes align with the community's needs and the Y's strategic plan.
  • Build strong relationships with schools and the community, evaluate program quality and needs, and collaborate with school administrations, districts, board members, and community organizations to advance the Y's mission and maximize its impact on youth development.
  • Develop and support a strategy around staff recruitment and hiring. Provide direct supervision to department staff, assuring that all staff are qualified, certified, and meeting minimum performance standards for their position.
  • Work with your team to ensure that monthly department meetings and staff training are planned and executed. Design, co-create, or partner with a third party to facilitate professional development opportunities, and execute ongoing training for staff and volunteers through various meetings, courses, workshops, and regional events, including youth development summits and conferences.
  • Work with the team to ensure they regularly visit program sites and complete evaluations. Review evaluation and ensure that plans of correction of developed, if needed.
  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets for all programs, achieve financial goals, complete monthly forecasting, and monitor budgets with variance analysis and expense control.
  • Direct all aspects of safety related to children and staff, equipment, environment, and behavior. Know and train on the use of incident reports, emergency procedures, etc.
  • Hold meetings with core staff to communicate program successes and shortcomings and to develop plans to address the identified needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Assists in SRYMCA fundraising activities and special events.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Child Care Director or Executive Leadership.
  • 10+ years’ experience in staff supervision and in providing leadership to groups.
  • Experience with the budgetary responsibility of $1 million or higher.
  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Ed or BA in Arts Child Development preferred.
  • A proven track record of fiscal and/or program fiscal responsibility and sound financial management skills.
  • Ability to recruit, train, schedule, supervise and motivate staff of all levels.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring financial projections, budgets, and assessment of program effectiveness.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills. Demonstrated experience setting and managing priorities.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for child care development, building and maintaining a culture of child care excellence.
  • Acquire and maintain the following certifications:
  • CPR Pro/AED/O2 (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)
  • First Aid (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)
