ROLE of the POSITION

Under the direction of the Senior Associate Vice President (SAVP) for Development, the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Development and Principal Gifts is responsible for the leadership and supervision of Development Officers as assigned.


The Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement (PAE) Development team is a high-performing, collaborative team that works across the institution and cross-functionally within PAE to secure gifts supporting unit-based and university-wide priorities, initiatives, and programs. The AVP, along with unit Development Officers, works with University and Academic Leadership in developing fundraising priorities and securing resources to support those priorities.


The AVP for Development and Principal Gifts is responsible for the comprehensive strategy, performance, and supervision of existing and new fundraising programs, including major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, principal giving, regional development, and strategic initiatives fundraising. The AVP is directly involved in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gifts; effectively communicates the mission and values of UNLV; and has a working knowledge of current best practices in all aspects of fundraising.


The AVP will ensure effective strategy, implementation, evaluation, reporting, and refinement of Development activities to support and achieve PAE's annual goals and objectives. This includes ensuring the program has clear strategic objectives, measurable outcomes, aspirational work plans, performance metrics, and is well-positioned for university-wide benefit and service.


The AVP collaborates with colleagues in Development and Alumni Relations across the campus. They will serve as an active member of the Leadership Team, assisting with strategic planning and implementation of fundraising priorities. The position will be responsible for personally managing a portfolio of donors and prospects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a minimum of five to seven years of experience in higher education alumni engagement and development. Minimum of five years of supervisory experience with at least three years of management experience. Demonstrated track record of management and leadership, as well as a progressive level of responsibility. Proven ability to build and lead teams within units as well as across an institution to achieve/exceed annual strategic goals and objectives. Demonstrated experience working in and with a culturally diverse community.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred experience in a comprehensive campaign within a higher education institution.


SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions.
