The Associate Teacher is a supportive partner to the Homeroom Teacher. Together the teachers provide an intellectually challenging, creative and differentiated educational program for gifted
learners.
Role:
Support and collaborate with the Homeroom Teacher in coordinating homeroom instruction using a variety of best curricular approaches.
Support the Homeroom Teacher in the social and emotional development of the students in the mixed-age, self-contained classroom.
Actively participate and grow in partnership with the Homeroom Teacher. Collaborate with the Homeroom Teacher in developing and implementing classroom curriculum.
Following curriculum approved by Homeroom Teacher, provide instruction and supervision.
In collaboration with the Homeroom Teacher, utilize knowledge of a variety of instructional and assessment methods and technology.
Collaborate with Homeroom Teacher in implementing a multicultural and culturally relevant curriculum.
Collaborate with the Homeroom Teacher in sharing student learning and progress.
Maintain effective communication with the Homeroom Teacher, colleagues, and administration.
Model positive behaviors for students and colleagues that align with the school’s core values, emphasizing social and emotional skills.
Collaborate with Lower School faculty on school-wide initiatives and support education through varied activities.
Provide support to Homeroom Teacher and the Lower School.
Skills:
Work or student teaching experience providing classroom instruction in an elementary school
Committed to supporting and collaborating with Homeroom Teacher
Demonstrated instructional and communication skills
Ability to form collaborative work relationships
Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency work in order to perform responsibilities in accordance with Roeper’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
A collegial approach and congenial temperament
Preparation:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education or other relevant field

Salary Consideration:
The Associate Teacher position allows those newly entering the education field to gain valuable classroom
experience while supporting and assisting the Homeroom Teacher. Starting salaries from 35K.
