Associate Professor/Program Manager, Respiratory Care

Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION:

This regular full-time Bargaining Unit teaching position is eligible for a continuing contract. The standard contract duration is 228 days, but other contract lengths may be available based on departmental requirements. The position is based at the Altamonte Springs Campus.

The Program Manager/Associate Professor role emphasizes collaboration, involving close work with the Dean and other members of the faculty and industry partners. In addition to teaching Respiratory Care courses and related subjects, the program manager/associate professor will oversee all aspects of the program, providing leadership, vision, and direction in its planning, development, and delivery. The role entails flexible work hours, including days and evenings, as well as travel to clinical sites and college campuses.

Essential Functions

Program Manager

  • Develops and implements curriculum for the degree and maintains program specific learning outcomes with an appropriate learning assessment plan.
  • Implements and manages program improvement using learning assessment outcomes, program review and advisory committee input.
  • In conjunction with the Dean, recruits and recommends adjunct faculty, clinical faculty and lab assistant and coordinates orientations and development.
  • Provides support to the admissions office for the recruitment of students and recommends strategies to enhance student recruitment, retention, and completion.
  • Prepares schedules for each term and projects year long course schedule to enhance the student’s ability to complete the program considering student needs, faculty teaching loads, facilities, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Maintain accreditation of the program through the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Serves as the program representative and liaison with NBRC, state and local agencies, business, and industry to ensure that the curriculum reflects current industry standards, according to the CoARC and content to optimize student placement.
  • Works collaboratively with the Dean to develop and maintain a strong and active industry advisory committee and organizes advisory committee meetings minimally twice a year to ensure curriculum that provides students with knowledge and skills aligned with industry needs.
  • In collaboration with other faculty, recommends book adoptions for each course in program.


Professor

  • Teaches didactic courses, including the elements of instruction such as syllabi in compliance with the SSC master course syllabi, course objectives, tests, student records, course evaluations, and grade reports.
  • Cooperates with the other faculty and medical director to ensure that instruction in the clinical affiliates is coordinated, and that all students receive adequate medical and technical instruction and learning experiences.
  • Incorporates teaching strategies relevant to academic discipline that foster student learning, success, and retention.
  • Maintains required office hours to help students, both individually and in small groups. Counsels students in matters relating to academic progress.
  • Participates in committee work as requested.
  • Develop and implement lab skill, practice and testing of students.
  • Assists in implementing college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with college philosophy and procedures.
  • Maintains current instruction and discipline specific knowledge through professional development, seminars, and conferences.


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a minimum of four years’ experience with at least two years in clinical respiratory care.
  • State of Florida RRT license for providing respiratory services, or, if from out-of-state, must be eligible for Florida license and procured prior to hiring.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Clinical sites may require additional requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Works in an office/classroom environment.
  • May be required to work flexible hours and days including evening and weekends.
  • Assigned campus may vary.
  • May be required to travel between campuses and other local destinations.
  • May require contact with patients with communicable diseases.

Salary is $54,317 to $87,218 commensurate with related work experience and education in accordance with the UFF Bargaining Unit Faculty Salary Schedule listed in Article 26 of the .
