The Department of Psychology in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University invites applications for an Associate or Professor position in Clinical Psychology starting August 16, 2024. In addition, the candidate will serve as the Director of Clinical Training. This is a 9-month, full-time, tenured position with full benefits. Summer work is expected with additional compensation. The successful candidate will contribute to our APA-accredited PhD program in Clinical Psychology by conducting research supported by external grants, providing leadership as the Director of Clinical Training, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and mentoring student research and clinical work.
The teaching load is four courses per academic year (2-2) with a 2-course equivalence for being the Director for Clinical Training and leading the Clinical Psychology doctoral program (yielding a teaching load of 1-1). The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes that complement the Psychology Department’s current offerings at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The Department of Psychology has 26 full-time faculty, 66 graduate students, and 720 undergraduate majors and 575 undergraduate minors. Doctoral training is offered in Clinical Psychology (APA-accredited), Behavior Analysis (ABAI-accredited), Behavioral Neuroscience, and Life-Span Developmental Psychology. The Clinical Psychology doctoral program has been continuously accredited by APA since 1966. In 2020, the program was re-accredited for ten years. Additionally, there are numerous opportunities to collaborate with faculty at WVU Health Sciences Center. The Psychology Department has an award-winning doctoral-student led formal mentorship program for students from underrepresented groups.
WVU is a R1 research land grant university located within 90 minutes of Pittsburgh, 3.5 hours from the Washington/Baltimore area, and 3 hours from Columbus or Cleveland. Morgantown has been recognized as one of the most livable small cities in the U.S. There are extensive recreational opportunities, excellent public schools, and a supportive University environment in which to develop a visible and productive career. - Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a closely related field (such as Counseling Psychology or School Psychology) from an APA - or PCSAS - accredited doctoral program and internship.
- Licensure or license eligibility as a psychologist in the state of West Virginia by the start date.
- An active research program that complements that of the current faculty .
- Current or past leadership in graduate education and/or training; leadership in clinical training; substantial departmental or professional service, etc.
- A track record of securing significant external funding.
- Proven ability to provide high-quality mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students in research.
- Proven ability to provide high-quality mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students' clinical work.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent undergraduate and graduate teaching skills.
