Associate Professor of Law (Tenure-Track)

The duties of an Associate Professor of Law include research, teaching, and service.

Specific Duties Include

  • Write scholarship that is placed in leading academic journals or books published by leading presses;
  • Teach classes at Notre Dame Law School, and in other academic units at the University of Notre Dame;
  • Mentor students and encourage their learning about the law and preparation for legal careers;
  • Contribute in workshops and conversations to the development of legal scholarship by other members of the Notre Dame Law School faculty;
  • Serve the Notre Dame Law School and the broader university by participating in committees and other instruments of governance;
  • Serve the broader legal academic community, both national and international, such by providing reviews of potential publications in academic journals and providing assessments in tenure cases; and
  • Contribute to national and international discussion of legal issues in order to promote justice and advance the public good.

Qualifications

Candidates for Associate Professor of Law should have attained a J.D., Ph.D., or other advanced degree related to the area of the candidate’s scholarly work.

Please submit a C.V., a cover letter, and two recent pieces of scholarship that are representative of your work. The cover letter should include an explanation of your particular interest in Notre Dame and how you would contribute to its Catholic mission.

The Law School will consider applications on a rolling basis. Applications for positions beginning in Fall 2025 should be submitted by July 1, 2024.
