Associate Producer

Kentucky Educational Television, (KET) has the following full-time position opening at its Lexington, Kentucky Network Center:

Associate Producer

KET is Kentucky’s only statewide media organization, serving more than two million people each week with programs and services that educate, inform, and inspire. In addition to broadcasting PBS programming, KET produces a variety of award-winning local productions and creates high quality, nationally recognized educational resources. As the Associate Producer, the individual selected for this role will produce and assist in the production of KET programs and content for broadcast and online platforms.

Our ideal Candidate will:

Research content, organize pre-production meetings, create and organize pre-production notes, write preliminary scripts and scout and schedule location shoots.

Assist with travel arrangements for producers, crew, and talent, help direct and organize crew members and talent, help prepare sets and studios for guests, and greet guests and provide for their needs.

Prepare prompter scripts and run teleprompter, following and lining scripts, and maintain continuity on set.

Log footage, perform basic videography and video editing, write transcripts, organize and archive media files, and assist with post-production editing, graphics, and audio sessions.

Perform social media tasks including posting behind-the-scenes production pictures and video on social media platforms. Help create video segments and post segments and other content on KET.org and social media platforms.

Assist with preparation and maintenance of records necessary for production, broadcast, and digital use including facilities requests, budgets, rights, contracts, music cue sheets, releases, copyright information, operational records, and reports.

Work with direction from Producers and Directors to accomplish KET production goals. Contribute to and execute the creative and editorial vision of KET productions.

Effectively collaborate with team members by sharing skills, knowledge, and production processes.

Demonstrate dedication to diversity in areas of responsibility.

Participate in special projects.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.

Successful applicants will have the following minimum qualifications, skills, and experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus two (2) years of related experience preferred. Practical experience in these fields may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team, in an environment of multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.

Knowledge and interest in Kentucky politics, history and culture preferred.

Basic Video Editing Experience Is Required.

Must have strong computer, broadcast writing, communications and interpersonal skills.

Must be available on a flexible schedule and for weekend and overnight travel.

Must be able to occasionally move/lift/carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally operate equipment while standing/sitting for extended periods of time.

Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.

Must maintain a valid driver’s license to drive KET vehicles.
