Job Summary

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (https://www.engr.uky.edu/ece) at the University of Kentucky announces a tenured 9-month-appointment (Regular Title Series) faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level in the Computer Engineering Area, with specific focus area including but not limited to, Computing for AI and AI for Computing, Computer Architecture and Design Automation, High-Performance and Quantum Computing, as well as Cyber-Physical Systems. Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. The successful candidate will possess a strong record of academic scholarship and externally funded research, advising graduate students, teaching undergraduate and graduate computer engineering courses, and providing service to their discipline, professional organizations, and the community.

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, with 25 tenure-track faculty and over 500 undergraduate and graduate students, are involved in a broad range of research and educational activities. Support for these activities comes from federal agencies such as NSF , NIH , NASA , DOE , and DOD , in partnerships with the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CeNSE), the Institute for Sustainable Manufacturing ( ISM ), NASA Kentucky, the Power and Energy Institute of Kentucky ( PEIK ), and extensive collaborations with industry. In addition to Electrical Engineering undergraduate and graduate degrees, computer engineering undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered in collaboration with the 20 plus tenure-track faculty of the Computer Science Department. Both the ECE and CS Departments are a part of the Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering, which is the #1 engineering college in Kentucky according to US News and World Report. With over $107 million of active research awards, the college recently received a $34.5 million gift from Stanley and Karen Pigman, the largest single gift ever made to the university, to support the college’s core missions.
