Associate General Manager, Books Team

As an Associate General Manager, you are responsible for managing the business unit. This includes the development of new products and product lines, maintaining and enhancing backlist titles, achieving annual sales plans, and concentrating on the management of the team. You will propose and implement growth plans to continue to serve Ascension's customers and fulfill our mission through Bibles, catechisms, Church Documents, and other related products.

  • Develop and execute product plans. Develop a strong product plan finding areas of growth and opportunities in the Catholic markets for Bibles, Catechisms, Church Documents, and other related products. Ensure backlist products are continually refreshed based on customer feedback. Manage the contract process to acquire new licenses for publication and support existing ones. Network with authors and creators for new opportunities
  • Lead the team. Lead, manage, and supervise the staff as well as recruit new talent and build relationships with our current talent. Lead a team of editors, designers, product managers, and marketers, to make data-driven decisions within a fast-paced environment to ensure that team goals are met. Nurture, empower, and support the personal and professional development of team members
  • Achieve the sales goals. Develop a revenue growth plan based on market research that addresses market size, consumer needs, product gaps, and new product categories. Implement a comprehensive B2C sales strategy and coordinate the development of a B2B sales strategy to sell to resellers and distributors. Consolidating and repackaging backlist products to make product lines easier to sell and build upon future product offerings.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Theology, or a related field and 5+ years managing a high-performing team is preferred
  • A deep understanding of the Catholic faith and teaching and an understanding of church doctrine and the hierarchy within the Catholic Church
  • Experience in the development and growth of product lines based on market gaps
  • Experience managing profit and loss statements, budgets, and forecasting
  • Familiarity with the publishing industry is preferred
  • Strong capability in sales, marketing, and business development
  • Proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
  • The ability to travel to Ascension's headquarters in Pennsylvania is required
