Associate Editor, Fashion, TZR

Bustle Digital Group (“BDG”) is seeking an Associate Fashion Editor to pitch and write feature and news content that spans fashion trends, brand profiles, product reviews, and service-driven how-tos.  

Reporting to the Deputy Fashion Editor, the ideal candidate is passionate about being the first to know what is happening in the fashion space and how it relates to personal style, internet trends, shopping, and the evolution of the industry in general. The candidate should be skilled in multitasking and juggling multiple projects and have the ability to turn around well-researched and sourced copy that is clean and thoroughly reported. The position will also require you to support the senior editors on larger initiatives as well as tent poles like award season and fashion month. Some occasional editing will also be required.

 

This position requires 2+ years of experience writing and editing fashion-related content as well as possessing a network of relationships with major brands in the industry and freelance writers. The role is fast-paced and requires someone who is able to ideate and turnaround clean copy quickly as well as generate SEO and social heds in a timely manner.

This is a position covered under a collective bargaining agreement between BDG Media, Inc. and the Writers Guild of America East.


Key Accountabilities
  • Pitch and write up to two fashion features stories (which can range from 400 to 800 words in length) and one news story each day
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of all things industry and shopping news via social media, press releases, and exclusive announcements via your professional network
  • Occasionally help with fashion news story edits and managing our part-time writers
  • Attend relevant industry events, with an eye for on-site and social coverage opportunities
  • Closely monitor traffic performance utilizing analytic tools and have the ability to pivot quickly while also taking a macro perspective when setting the monthly content strategy
  • Constantly brainstorm with fellow editors on methods to deliver fashion content in exciting and creative ways
  • Work closely with team members during tentpole events, such as awards season and fashion weeks


Candidate Profile
  • 2+ years of fashion writing experience in digital media
  • Keen understanding and advanced knowledge of best practices for search and social
  • Ability to write quickly without compromising brand integrity or mission
  • Contacts with major and emerging brands in the fashion industry
  • Natural ease in attending events and networking with key players in the industry while representing the company
  • An energetic spirit, positive attitude, and a sense of urgency to deliver news to our devoted readers
