The opportunity
As the Associate Dean, Competency-based Education (CBE), you will be a full-time member of the University staff who supports the operational needs, strategic direction, and programs of Southern New Hampshire University's Global Campus (GC). You will report to the Executive Director of Competency-based Education Programs.
You will be well-versed in and connected to the national conversation regarding higher education, learner outcomes, general education, workforce needs and different learning modalities such as competency-based education.

What You'll Do
Lead program, course, competency, and content development efforts in collaboration with the Learning Sciences and Assessment (LSA) team
Provide operational oversight and support for our CBE team
Maintain successful programs and curriculum through oversight of the processes and related artifacts, ensuring efficient curriculum delivery and curriculum relevancy.
Engage with external partners to gain specific insights into employer perspective and needs, program effectiveness, brand perception, and graduate performance in the workplace.
Support program growth in collaboration with internal departments (including University Campus and Workforce Partnerships), and external partners.
Contribute to faculty and Subject Matter Expert (SME) recruitment, hiring, management and professional development process.
Lead coaching, mentoring, and remediation efforts to support ensuring faculty excellence.
Collaborate with the appropriate partners to support the faculty evaluation process.
Champion faculty recognition activities to develop of a pool of engaged faculty.
Contribute to solution-building for student-related issues such as disputes, appeals, learning environment, and conduct in collaboration with other departments.
Implement and support approved projects that support learner and faculty engagement, program and course quality, learner success, and learner experience.
Use data to support the decision-making, quality control, and issue-remediation processes.
Support accreditation, policy development, and compliance efforts.
Participate in academic governance processes as determined by the institution.
Participate in professional development activities that support professional growth and the development of a national presence within higher education.
Help design new learning models that are flexible and scalable to support the needs of tomorrow's learners and address important issues such as affordability, access, and speed to completion.
Identify and lead efforts to deliver workforce-relevant micro-credentials, certifications, and badges.
Support experimentation with instructional, assessment, and learning resource models.
Help establish the online content library and systems to support rapid solutions development across modalities.
Support activities that try to maximize the functionality of our technology stack to improve data collection effectiveness, learner experience, faculty experience, administrative oversight, content delivery and outcome assessment.
Collaborate to implement improvements in processes to increase automation, improve data and reporting, ability to grow, reduce cost, and better support collaboration between partners.
Use data and help implement systems to provide improved learner and faculty support.
Engage with departments including Center for Online Learning and Teaching (COLT), Faculty Recruiting, Learning Science and Assessment, Human Resources to improve faculty recruiting, training, evaluation, and community building practices to ensure the most effective learner-facing experience.
Implement practices that foster the development of motivated, and high-functioning teams that embody the cultural values of SNHU.
Work on projects as part of a shape-shifting organization that assembles talent toward solving short- or medium-term problems or organizational needs. .
What We're Looking For
Master's degree in Communication, Media Studies, Strategic Communication, or related discipline
At least one year of related experience working in a similar role
Demonstrated experience in online education
Demonstrated experience making data-driven decisions
Demonstrated experience in the successful administration of online degree programs and faculty support
Understand basics of learning science
Strategic and operational planning ability
Demonstrate ability to collaborate among colleagues and team members to effect change
Demonstrate reason in a complex fashion about problems which do not have a single correct answer
