Associate Counsel, Legal & Business Affairs

Overview /Objective

Seeking a corporate attorney with a broad transactional background and experience with complex commercial transactions. The essential functions will include working with club and League executives on club and League matters including those related to club ownership, club and League finance and stadiums. This position will be based in the NFL’s New York office.

Responsibilities

Supporting and working with the attorneys who:

  • Advise clubs regarding, among other things, ownership transactions, finance matters, stadium construction, leases, and financing, and other transactions.
  • Review such transactions for compliance with League policies and advising/presenting owner Committees and membership on these policies.
  • Help interpret, develop, and advise on new/revised policies regarding matters described above.
  • Work on various corporate governance matters.

This position also will require direct interaction with other departments at the League and the member clubs and working with outside counsel from time-to-time.

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. from accredited law school and valid member in good standing of a state bar.
  • 3+ years of corporate/transactional law experience, including relevant areas such as: finance, securities offerings/securities law, mergers and acquisitions/equity investments, estate planning, real estate, and general corporate law.
  • Strong legal drafting, research and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organization skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a highly regarded law firm.
  • Experience with sports law.

NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week. This position will require work in excess of 40 hours per week and availability as needed for time-sensitive matter

Salary / Pay Range

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Salary

$200,000 — $240,000 USD
