Job Overview

The Associate, Content/Digital collaborates with Merchants, Site Merchandising, and the Merchandise Marketing Team to develop online marketing content, promotional strategies, and a customer experience supporting the company strategy. This role supports the Business Director in executing a customer-centric vision. Leveraging digital and product expertise, the Associate identifies online marketing and merchandising opportunities prioritizing the customer. Building trust with teams and key collaborators is crucial, as is influencing Macy’s wide Marketing execution strategies.

Known as a trusted, collaborative, and results-oriented leader, the Associate, Content/Digital guides through influence, displaying professional maturity and industry credibility. They closely partner with the DMM and Merchants, implementing merchandising strategies online. Candidates must rapidly evaluate and phase out outdated approaches, demonstrating both vision and a strong orientation for speed.

What You Will Do

Digital Marketing and Content Creation

  • Develop engaging and cohesive digital marketing content that aligns with Division-wide trends and product strategies, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
  • Strategize and create content for homepage, email, mobile, banners, and sitelets with a digital-first mindset, considering linking, page counts, imagery, price types, and ranges.
  • Lead and coordinate digital marketing sign-off reviews in partnership with the Merchants.
  • Strategize and curate editorial content and product pools for all sitelets and gift guides.
  • Analyze weekly marketing tactics to guide decisions and scale best practices.
  • Hold weekly meetings with Site Merchandising to review upcoming marketing and ensure the best customer experience.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure social content supports key categories, relevant trends, product priorities, and current consumer interests.

PDP Optimization

  • Establish best practices for Product Detail Page (PDP) optimization, coordinating with Site Merchandising as needed, and lead Merchandise Assistants to action.
  • Act as the stakeholder for Division-wide updates to facets & attributions based on seasonal trends and product strategies and priorities, working with Site Merchandising to execute.
  • Obtain buyer approval for pages to ensure content optimization, including imagery/photography styling, descriptions, copy, keywords, attribution, and review syndication.
  • Utilize PDP dashboard to analyze and educate Merchandise Assistants on opportunities and lead vendor communication as necessary.
  • Set and lead Bazaarvoice and WebCollage priorities for the Division.
  • Run Bazaarvoice reporting to analyze and identify opportunities for Merchandise Assistants to act on and lead vendor communication as needed.

Relationship Building with Site Merchandising, Marketing, Pricing & Buying

  • Influence and collaborate with Buyers, Marketing, and Pricing on digital marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Work closely with Site Merchandising to communicate Divisional product/category priorities and trends to impact how products are displayed on the site and enhance the customer’s online shopping journey.
  • Establish Division-wide digital marketing best practices and processes between Merchants and Marketing, Site Merchandising, and Pricing.

Leadership and Influence: Trusted and results-oriented leader with the capability to guide teams through influence, displaying professional maturity and industry credibility.

Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing weekly marketing tactics, running reports, and utilizing dashboards to identify opportunities and guide decision-making processes.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to think creatively and strategically, independently developing marketing strategies that maximize sales, profit, customer acquisition, and retention.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely, influencing others effectively.

Adaptability and Decision Making: Capacity to make independent digital marketing decisions, rapidly evaluate and phase out outdated approaches, and adapt to changing market conditions.

Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Strong leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across functional lines and at various organizational levels.

Technical Aptitude: Ability to understand and focus on digital experience drivers, with a blend of creative, strategic, and technical thinking.

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 3+ years of experience in retail, buying, or online/e-commerce.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
