Associate Attorney

Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Attorney to become a part of our team! You will represent clients in legal proceedings, draw up legal documents and advise clients on legal transactions.

Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in court or before government agencies
• Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients, such as wills, deeds, mortgages, leases and contracts, and manage or advise clients on legal transactions.
• Advise clients on business and legal transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations
• Negotiate settlements for legal disputes
• Comply with all legal standards and regulations
• Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law
• Conduct research and analysis of legal problems.
• Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses
• Prepare and draft legal pleadings, motions, affidavits and proposed orders.
• Attend hearings, trials, mediations, and depositions
• Effectively and efficiently track time spent on matters for client billing
  
  

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience practicing law, preferably in civil litigation and/or family law.
• Admission to the Texas State Bar in good standing.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Familiarity with various legal documents
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to build rapport with clients
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
• Working knowledge of Westlaw, TxDocs and Smokeball preferred.
