Associate Athletic Director, Men's Basketball

Position Function

Assists the head coach with all aspects of the daily operation of the basketball program.

Salary Grade: 18

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the competitive performance of the basketball program.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance all aspects of the basketball program.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the basketball program, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the basketball program at public events, conferences, and media engagements.
  • Develop the non-conference schedule in collaboration with the Head Coach.
  • Collaborate with the offensive and defensive coordinators to create and execute game strategies, practice plans, and player development programs.
  • Design and implement individualized player development programs, incorporating video feedback, analytics, and performance metrics.
  • Oversee programs to enhance player development.
  • Analyze team performance data to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilize advanced analytics and performance metrics to evaluate team and individual player performance.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive recruitment strategy to attract top-tier talent to the basketball program.
  • Oversee the evaluation and scouting of potential recruits, ensuring alignment with the team's strategic goals and culture.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, fans, and community partners.
  • Act as a liaison between the coaching staff, athletic department, and university administration.
  • Ensure the basketball program adheres to all NCAA, SEC, and university regulations and policies.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, sportsmanship, and academic excellence among players and staff.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in basketball strategy and performance.
  • Monitor and assess competitor strategies to stay ahead of trends and adapt accordingly.
  • Oversee fellows and team managers, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the men's basketball program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Supervisory responsibility: fellows & team managers.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field with three (3) years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to think critically & put together game-plans that increase chances of on-court success.
  • Strong technical knowledge & a willingness to constantly expand that knowledge to benefit the program.
  • Excellent organizational, management, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours.
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight.
  • Valid Drivers’ License.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc. with one to the point of being objectionable. Injuries may require professional treatment.
  • Job frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping/kneeling/ crouching/ crawling, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
