Responsibilities
Manage and provide assistive technology services to children and adults who are blind or visually impaired, as well as those at risk for vision loss.
Supervise a team of Assistive Technology Instructors and oversee the Assistive Technology Centers.
Coordinate with various rehabilitation areas to ensure integrated services including low vision, occupational therapy, orientation and mobility, vocational rehabilitation, and more.
Teach a range of assistive technologies such as screen readers, Braille devices, electronic notetakers, and accessible mobile apps.
Collaborate with Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation staff to develop innovative solutions for users facing unique technology challenges.
Stay updated with the latest developments in assistive technology through continuous education and research.
Showcase and demonstrate assistive technology at professional and community events.
Supervise and train the assistive technology team, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Manage CCTV sales and equipment loaner programs, including vendor relations and promotional activities.
Develop and lead instructional platforms including one-on-one sessions, group instruction, and remote learning.
Create and implement assistive technology programs in partnership with existing rehabilitation initiatives.
Requirements
Associate degree in computer science, business, or related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of two years' experience in a managerial or supervisory role.
Certification in assistive technology or willingness to complete a certification program.
Previous Experience As a Teacher Or Trainer Is Required.
Proficiency in Apple and Windows applications, Microsoft Office, and Teams.
Familiarity with assistive technologies and mobile applications.
Ability to travel to various environments including homes, schools, and community settings.
