Responsible for all aspects in assisting the head coach with the intercollegiate athletic team. Duties include but are not limited to practice and meet preparation, recruiting and retention ofstudent-athletes, managing and updating NJCAA Eligibility Center status for athletes, fund-raising, scheduling, public relations, community service and strict adherence to all NJCAA, OCCAC, and College rules. This position is part-time. Position Contingent on Funding
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Assists Head Coach with recruitment and retention efforts of student athletes
Assists Head Coach in monitoring and guiding student athletes with accomplishing their academic and athletic goals
Assists Head Coach in ensuring the safety and well-being of student athletes
Complies with all institutional and departmental policies and procedures, Athletic Department handbook, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) by-laws and eligibility rules. Assists Head Coach with completion of all necessary paperwork and correspondence
Assists Head Coach in ensuring student athletes understand the relationship between academics and athletics and the concept of student athlete
Assists Head Coach with program goals and direction, home and away scheduling, travel budgets; and record-keeping procedures
Assumes head coaching duties and responsibilities in the event the Head Coach is unable to perform those duties
Assists Head Coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition
To be present anytime members of the team are assembled in an official capacity unless alternative arrangements are made with the Head Coach
Utilizes information management system(s) and other databases to track student contacts and information
Completes other duties as assigned by the Head Coach
Program Area Responsibilities (as applicable):

Ability to develop and complete projects and tasks without continued direct supervision
Proficient in word-processing and presentation software, internet, and e-mail
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student and community population
Capability to teach in more than one discipline
Demonstrates ability to advise students.
Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills
Effective problem solving skills
Ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekend schedules
Proven record of integrity and leadership
Willingness to advance the goals of the Athletics Department, including fundraising
A commitment to the academic success and graduation of student-athletes
Knowledge of international/nationwide/statewide recruiting is preferred
Position will include frequent evenings, nights, and weekends
Education and/or Work Experience:
Associate's Degree required
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
A minimum two (2) years' playing and/or coaching, higher education experience preferred
Other Skills and Abilities:

Maintains certification for CPR; First Aid; Blood Borne Pathogens; and Sexual Harassment
