Assistant Technical Designer

This is a work-to-hire or permanent full-time role for a candidate who can work in a fast-paced, high volume, fashion environment while maintaining accuracy.

As an Assistant Technical Designer, you will play a key role in supporting the technical designer in the development and execution of technical aspects within the design process. You will collaborate closely with the Technical Design team, as well as design, production, and development teams to ensure designs are translated effectively into production-ready denim garments. This role requires a basic understanding of technical design principles, garment construction, and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn and train in the field of denim technical design. They will be a team player who is excited to support the technical design team as needed.

• Assist in maintaining records of design iterations, revisions, and production samples. Ensuring all documentation is organized and up-to-date, including logging/tracking samples by fit list and maintaining the block library per style. 
• Support the TD team by prepping for fittings and preparing TP based on feedback from the fitting. 
• Basic knowledge of POMs and specing garments.
• Conduct quality inspections of samples and production pieces, identifying and addressing any construction, fit, or material issues. 
• Assist in organizing & preparing technical specifications and design packages for garments.
• Collaborate with TD to take direction from work with priorities to meet deadlines.
• Brings an enthusiastic, positive team player willing to learn and able to adapt in a very fast-paced environment.   

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Fashion Design, Apparel Engineering, Textile Engineering, or related field)
• 1+ years of experience in the technical design field or related work experience preferred. 
• Basic knowledge of POMs and how to accurately spec garments
• Basic understanding of garment construction techniques, patternmaking principles, and grading rules. Knowledge of Denim construction and techniques is a plus. 
• Ability to multi-task with effective organizational skills.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Suite, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop.
• Hands-on knowledge of measuring garments correctly.
