Job Summary
Harris-Stowe State University (HSSU) invites nominations and applications for the Assistant Provost for Academic Quality, Assessment, and Accreditation. The Assistant Provost will join HSSU at a critical moment as the University embarks on an exciting and expansive effort to raise its profile by strengthening academic excellence, enhancing student success, and expanding partnerships and community engagement within the city of St. Louis, the state of Missouri, and the Region. The Assistant Provost will join a vibrant and engaged HSSU community and will work strategically to leverage existing assets for the benefit of students, faculty, staff, and the University at large.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Provost will be instrumental in maintaining the University’s academic quality, robust assessment, and accreditation. This will include expanding the University’s online and hybrid course offerings; developing, implementing, and promoting high impact educational experiences for students to be inclusive of graduate programs; collaborating with Deans on all aspects of program development, assessment, and accreditation; and managing the University’s MOUs. The Assistant Provost will also be responsible for mounting new programs that distinguish HSSU as a leader in fostering excellence in teaching, research, service, and transformative learning experiences that are immersive and extend beyond the classroom. The ideal candidate will be a talented and experienced administrator with collaborative and strategic leadership ability, an entrepreneurial spirit, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, administrative acumen, and a passion for the unique mission of Harris-Stowe State University.

Essential Functions
- Works closely with the Provost and Deans to formulate and implement the academic objectives within the context of the mission and objectives of the University.
- Contributes to the development, communication, and consistent implementation of the University’s policies and procedures across the Office of Academic Affairs.
- Directs University-wide accreditation initiatives and provides guidance concerning accreditation policy and process.
- Maintains and implements accreditation and compliance expectations for the University and specialized programs.
- Leads the Office of Academic Affairs assessment planning and implementation to ensure completion of program reviews, assessment reports, and uses data to improve curriculum and student outcomes.
- Collaborates with the Director of Library to manage materials and instructional resources.
- Collaborates with the Executive Director, Center for Teaching and Learning to provide leadership and support for faculty, staff, and student professional development.
- Prepares an annual report on progress toward the academic objectives of the University, including recommendations related to funding and future needs.
- Develops and monitors key performance metrics to sustain and enhance the Office of Academic Affairs.
- An earned doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related discipline;
- Significant and progressively responsible experience in academic administration and accreditation;
- A distinguished record of teaching, service, scholarly achievement, research, and professional accomplishments;
- Knowledge of online education, technology and its impact on pedagogy.
- An understanding of, commitment to, and respect for shared governance;
- An understanding of professional training and development activities for faculty and staff, best pedagogical practices, and cutting-edge instructional technologies;
- Demonstrated capability as a leader that values and follows best practices in supporting faculty and staff development;
- Experience in strategic planning, program review and accreditation, including outcomes assessment;
- Ability to recruit and retain a diverse staff and a demonstrated commitment to their professional growth and development;
- A demonstrated record of sound fiscal and resource management;
- A high level of integrity, trust, and resourcefulness;
- Experience connecting with the surrounding community and leveraging opportunities of the region, including building relationships with local businesses and other higher education institutions;
- Experience in a unionized environment;
- Experience serving students from underrepresented communities

- Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
