Job Summary:
This position is for a full-time Researcher at the rank of Research Assistant Professor, with either a PhD, an MD, or equivalent degree(s). The goal of this position is to recruit a collaborative individual in the field of cancer biology and therapeutic development to our research team. The research focus of the laboratory is centered on therapeutic development, cancer biology, and biomarker discovery in prostate and bladder cancer. The lab has a strong translational focus, having patented two novel therapies and supported multiple translational clinical trials in oncology. The proposed research will be conducted at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Highly motivated applicants who are eligible for NIH grants are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:
Our faculty are acknowledged both nationally and internationally for their innovative work in cancer research, resulting in regular collaborations with a variety of institutions globally in addition to collaborations with colleagues within our own division and institution. The focus of our researchers is centered around the development and application of experimental therapeutics and targeted agents for future cancer patient treatment, including biomarker development.
Our lab’s goal is to improve the treatment of cancer patients. We rely on robust scientific principles and approaches with a focus on translational opportunities, including the goal of patenting new therapies for advanced cancer and supporting clinical trial development. We are a highly collaborative group and actively work with researchers from other University of Colorado Campuses and other Schools on the Anschutz Medical Campus.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$90,000 - $105,000

Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively in developing the lab research plan and strategy.
- Participate in the initiation of research projects.
- Provide supervision to other lab personnel.
- Develop research protocols and conduct literature searches.
- Perform in vitro and in vivo (e. g. mouse) experiments as related to research project.
- Preparation of tissues, cell cultures, blood samples, etc. for testing.
- Measure and monitor gene and protein expression in vitro and in vivo.
- Modify, test, verify and analyze research data.
- Record results of experiments: Tabulate research data and keep a detailed, accurate, timely and easy to understand and follow laboratory notebook.
- Trouble-shooting and problem-solving as related to the research project.
- Interpret the experimental results and develop and maintain research databases.
- Perform analytical comparison of research data with data in public databases.
- Complete graphical analyses and collaborate on bioinformatics analyses.
- Collaboration with PI and others in the lab on research project development and execution.
- Training of laboratory personnel in experimental techniques.
- Self-motivated, hard-working, and willing to work flexible hours.
- Other duties as assigned by PI.
- Provide written progress reports and summaries of planned and ongoing research.
- Present results at lab, Division or Center meetings such as research in progress.
- Present results at national and international meetings.
- Write and publish manuscripts describing results.
- Support and prepare grant applications.
- Perform all research compliance activities required by the University of Colorado Denver.
- Perform the general administrative duties requested by PI.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent in Cancer biology, Immunology, or related field.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable but not required: Molecular bench work (Western blotting, PCR, etc.), cell culture work, cloning, single cell sequencing, spacial biology, Bioinformatics, and mouse genetics.
- Candidate with postdoctoral training, scholar awards, and one or more first-author publications in the field of oncology will be highly preferred.
- The ideal candidate is a collaborative, creative, productive, and self-motivated individual with the ability to think critically, learn quickly, function both independently and within a team, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively is critical to success.
- The candidate must be able to work in multi-tasking environment and have good presentation skills.
