Assistant Professor or Lecturer Position in Accounting

The Division of Business, Leadership and Communication at Columbia College invites applications for Lecturer (non-tenure track) or Assistant Professor in Accounting (tenure track) position beginning August 2023 with strong teaching focus in Accounting disciplines. The candidate is expected to teach financial accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, advanced accounting, auditing, taxation, accounting information systems and Business courses in our undergraduate and MBA programs. Previous experience in program management is also a plus.

The Division of Business, Leadership and Communication at Columbia College offers a unique Business, Business Analytics, Accounting and Communication curriculum that gives students a strong academic foundation and the chance to gain industry experience in a program that both fuels their interests and leads to a profession. The Division of BLC offers B.S. in Accounting, Business Analytics, B.A. in Communication, and Community Organizational Leadership and a B.A. in Business Administration with concentrations in Sports Management, Marketing, Hospitality, Tourism, and Event Management, as well as General Business. Additionally, the Division of BLC offers a one-year MBA program with a concentration in Health Administration and Strategic Management and Leadership and Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership. The Division has grown significantly in recent years, the expansion of strategic relationships with local businesses and professional groups. Additionally, the Division of BLC is home to the Women's Business Center of South Carolina.

This position is a nine month, full time, tenure track or non-tenure track appointment. The standard teaching load is twelve credit hours for each of the fall and spring semester. The candidate must demonstrate ability to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid modalities, and is expected to teach core courses and specialized courses in Accounting areas. The candidate is expected to have flexibility in class scheduling to meet the needs of the college. Faculty members are expected to participate in faculty governance and academic program activities, and to engage in service as well as professional development.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned Master in Accounting or in relevant areas for Lecturer position or a Doctorate in Accounting or in relevant areas for Assistant Professor position, as well as CPA licensure.
