Position Description Summary/Purpose
The Department of Mathematics is accepting qualified applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting Fall 2024. The department is looking for a candidate with a PhD in Statistics or Mathematics. Strong applicants from the field of Data Science and those with a master’s degree will also be considered.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. This is a 12-month, renewable, non-tenure track appointment.

- Teach courses in Mathematics and ensure that each course contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, maintains currency, and is aligned with program and course outcomes.
- Apply best pedagogical practices to the assessment of student learning outcomes, organization of LMS resources, and classroom management, within the framework of the UB syllabus template.
- Develop and deliver innovative curriculum and teaching strategies for a diverse audience of learning styles and backgrounds. Be comfortable teaching with both in-person and online modalities.
- Attend department meetings and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program goals and curriculum review based on student learning outcomes.
- Engage in research and scholarly activities within your discipline and engage students in your research whenever possible.
- Attend professional development activities to remain informed of current trends and new approaches to instruction.
- Participate as a departmental and program representative on standing and ad-hoc committees within the University.
- Demonstrate professional attitude, philosophy, compassion, and commitment that promotes student growth and learning

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education, Training And Experience
- Ph.D. in Mathematics from an accredited institution; Ph.D. in Statistics preferred. Strong applicants with a M.S. in Statistics or Data Science will be considered. ABD with evidence of degree completion prior to the start date will be considered.
