Job Description
The Department of Public Administration and Policy in the School of Public Affairs at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in the 2025-26 Academic Year. The position begins August 1, 2025. Applicants should have, or will complete by August 2025, a PhD in Public Administration, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economics, Political Science, or a related field.
We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality scholarship in public budgeting and financial management, especially those with a focus on state and local budgeting or public and non-profit financial management. We will also welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality scholarship on related topics, including public and municipal finance, tax policy, public accounting, education finance, etc. Teaching responsibilities will include core and elective courses in the School’s highly ranked Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Policy, and doctoral degree programs. In addition to scholarship and teaching, responsibilities will include participation in department, school, and university activities.
Salary and benefits are competitive, with an expected salary range of $90,000 to $110,000. Review of applications will begin on September 15, 2024, and will continue until the position are filled.
