Description
Reports to: K-12 Principal
Employment Information: 12-month, Full-Time, Non-Bargaining Unit Position
Summary
Assists the K-12 Principal in the direction, leadership, and day-to-day management of educational activities for K-12 programs. The Assistant Principal plays a crucial role in supporting the K-12 Principal in the overall administration and leadership of the school. Ensuring that all students receive high-quality education and support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

General Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Deaf and/or Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
- Hold valid Pennsylvania state Principal Certification or the ability to obtain one
- Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, preferably in a school for the Deaf
- 5+ years teaching experience
- ASL advanced proficiency
- Collaborative leadership skills
- Best practices in instruction
- Strong technological background
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Assists in the planning, development, organization, coordination, and supervision of instructional programs and activities
- Supervise assigned staff including hiring, evaluations, disciplinary action and terminations.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of qualified staff members, ensuring compliance with school policies and regulations
- Recommend professional growth/development opportunities and topics for and schedule student assemblies and activities
- Disseminate information about school disciplinary policies and procedures to parents, students, staff and community
- Complete other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
- Willingness to travel within the state, to travel overnight, and to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Sitting, standing, walking, frequent bending, crouching, reaching, stooping
- Lifting and moving of lighter objects such as books, chairs, student desks
- Manual dexterity skills for using office equipment
- Ability to read and attend to computer screens for long periods of time
