Primary Functions: Assistant Principal for Academics supports the principal in leading

the academic programming, including supervision of curriculum, instruction, teacher

evaluation, and intervention.


School Description: Cristo Rey Jesuit High School provides access to a Catholic,

Jesuit, college and career preparatory education to unlock the potential of students of

any culture, faith, or creed to transform our communities. We have an award-winning,

state-of-the-art educational and recreational facility in the Phillips neighborhood of

South Minneapolis where we educate approximately 450 students and provide post-

secondary support services to 875 Cristo Rey graduates. Through Cristo Rey’s unique

model of academic success, our student community experiences high quality college

and career preparatory curriculum focused on the development of habits for the mind

and spirit. Our innovative Corporate Work Study Program offers the opportunity for each

of our students to experience meaningful work at least 1 day a week at one of our 130+

corporate partners throughout the Twin Cities. We are committed to supporting students

in high school, post-graduation, through college and beyond, and have four established

programs that offer a holistic educational experience for our students, equipping them

with the necessary skills needed for thriving adulthood. Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Academic Leadership

 Together with the principal, create and hold the vision for academics that

reflect vision, culture, and values of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School

 Collaborate on the development within the Academic department policies

that support college and career readiness for all students in a safe, inclusive,

and productive learning environment

 Own the development and implementation of key academic systems,

including curriculum articulation and review, assessment, and intervention

programming.

 Supervise and support the growth and development of the following staff

roles to execute their roles with excellence: Dean of Curriculum and

Instruction, two Deans of Academic Achievement, and the Registrar /

PowerSchool administrator

 Supervise and evaluate up to 75% of teachers through collaboration with

instructional coaches and principal.

 Support Dean of Curriculum and Instruction with onboarding for teachers and

Academic staff

Curriculum, Assessment, and Academic Support

 With the principal, create goals for the Academic department aligned with the

Academic Vision and monitor the data for progress toward goals

 With the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction and the Academic department

leads, create the process to review and approve scope and sequence of

curriculum that is in line with the Cristo Rey Network curriculum and the

objectives of the Academic Vision of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School

 Track school level data for the purpose of data-informed and research-based

decision-making to accelerate student learning

 Support curriculum development and an instructional approach that is

culturally relevant and focuses on college and career readiness

 Supervise the Academic Deans’ implementation of student support

mechanisms, e.g., academic interventions, IEPs/504 plan implementation,

academic contracts, etc.

 Utilize feedback from the Cristo Rey Network and external partners to

consistently improve curriculum and instruction over time

Instructional Leadership, Teacher Coaching, and Evaluation

 With the ILT and DOCI, develop professional development for teachers and staff

to develop the skills necessary to meet the Academic goals and vision

 With the principal, oversee the teacher evaluation process, including the

instructional framework, timeline and process for evaluations, and

performance-based pay initiatives for academic staff.

 Develop professional development for teachers and staff to develop the skills

necessary to meet the Academic goals and vision, including facilitating the

Instructional Leadership Team with the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction.

 Regularly observe progress and data relevant for individual teacher

development, analysis of trends, and communication with Instructional

Coaches and principal.

 Support Principal in formal performance evaluation process and writing

formal evaluations for up to 75% of teachers.
