Position Overview

Primary Purpose Of Position

The Department of Psychology at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, in the area of Developmental Psychology, to begin in January or August 2024.

The successful candidate will actively conduct scholarly research and seek external funding, mentor students in research, teach courses related to Developmental Psychology, conduct academic advising, and serve as a core faculty member within the Department. Undergraduate courses to be taught may include Developmental Psychology, Adult Development & Aging, Theories of Personality, Human Motivation, Special Topics in Psychology, and Independent Study. The ideal candidate will also have expertise that is relevant to teaching courses and mentoring students in the Department’s new MS in Health Psychology program.

The John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences offers programs in Health Communications, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. Through innovative programs, high impact, and student-centered pedagogy, faculty in the college foster an inter-professional learning environment for undergraduate and graduate students. Faculty also engage in scholarly and service activities at the department, school, college, university, and community levels, and within professional organizations. These goals are reached through quality classroom instruction, departmental colloquia, departmental student organizations, internship opportunities through independent study, and individualized research projects. The Department of Psychology has over 715 enrolled undergraduate students and is seeking candidates to join a growing program with a highly interactive and productive faculty.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Behavioral or Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, or other closely-related Psychology sub-discipline. Psychology, at the time of appointment.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated record of scholarly research with a health-related focus.
