We are looking to fill an Assistant Operations Managers (AOM) . This role assists in promoting all new initiatives implemented by the Operations Manager with the ultimate objective of finding the operation that suits you best!

The role of the Assistant Operations Manager (AOM) - is to help lead safe and smoothly run operations at Boston Children’s Hospital. Operations consist of gathering, cleaning, and redistributing medical equipment (including beds, pumps, wheelchairs) to front line workers; auditing and exchanging Sharps containers, and deep cleaning the hospital. The goal is to facilitate these operations while maintaining a positive attitude in a high-performing, fast-paced work environment and ultimately fall into the operation that suits you best. Communication of delayed orders, or issues fulfilling orders to front line workers and the support staff are imperative to the success of the day-to-day operations.


The Assistant Operations Manager (AOM) - maintains effective communication with the frontline workers, Operations Manager and Executive levels as needed. This position will be heavily involved with training, developing staff, implementing policies & procedures, and providing on the job coaching, training, and disciplinary actions as needed throughout all our operations.


Please Note: Since this is a hospital environment, candidates must be able at least 18 years of age and able to produce their vaccination records promptly. Candidate must also be willing to get updated shots/testing if required. All hiring is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background check.


Responsibilities:

  • Always keep the safety of self and others in mind.
  • Work in tandem with staff to ensure we are reaching our contracted obligations.
  • Ensure staff complete tasks safely, efficiently and within compliance.
  • Set the tone by being enthusiastic about the job, creating a positive environment for the patients, clients, and teammates to enjoy.
  • Contribute to training and staffing management.
  • Oversee schedule and ensure that all positions always have coverage, including employee break times.
  • Oversee tracking of badges, keys, and equipment.
  • Ensure work areas are neat and clean.
  • Provide top notch customer service to the BCH nurses to ensure a clean flow of equipment throughout the facility.
  • Maintain organization at location.
  • Be a point of contact on shift for all issues and effectively communicate to operations manager.
  • Manage any unforeseen event (accident, lost equipment, code blue, etc.)
  • Adhere daily to professionalism and appearance standards.
  • Enforce and correct HealthOps uniform with staff and enforce policies during shift.
  • Understand and support key performance indicators for the Central Equipment Services Department, Sharps Management Team, and Deep Clean program.
  • Handle all employee issues in-house while working with the manager or Human Resources when appropriate.
  • Assist to build a high performing team through effective coaching and leadership.
  • Lead a positive and supportive culture to encourage growth opportunities for employees.


Qualifications

  • Flexibility in schedule is a must, our operations are 24/7/365 days a year.
  • Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in English.
  • Ability to move quickly throughout the facility.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks as administered.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently push, pull, carry, and/or lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be able to pass a background check.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule that may require some nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Operations Management or Customer Service Management
  • Spanish and Portuguese speakers are a plus.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
