The Assistant Manager of Briefing Operations plays a pivotal role in supporting the Briefing Team and the Assistant Secretary of Executive Operations by preparing crucial briefing materials, priority correspondence, and background materials for inclusion in the Governor’s daily briefing book.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with the Assistant Secretary to oversee daily operations of the briefing team, including material assignment, review processes, and preparation of the Governor's daily briefing book.
  • Provide essential managerial support during the absence of the Assistant Secretary and Manager.
  • Mentor and train new members of the briefing team, ensuring adherence to established briefing and intern manuals.
  • Supervise interns and manage associated projects, maintaining the Governor’s tracker, accomplishments library, and transcripts.
  • Act as a primary liaison between the Briefing Team and key departments, particularly in collaboration with Communications for press-related activities such as interviews and editorial boards.
  • Facilitate orientations for new hires across departments, maintaining the "roadshow" PowerPoint and accompanying memo to ensure seamless integration with the briefing team.
  • Coordinate regular check-ins between the Briefing Team and other departments to enhance interdepartmental communication and alignment.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Secretary and Manager of Briefing Operations to develop and implement efficient systems and sustainable processes that enhance operational effectiveness and support responsibilities.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience required; Master’s degree and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, and proficiency in meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong interest in or prior knowledge of New York State government preferred.
  • Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday work on a rotating schedule with team members.
