Job Description

The role will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer and will be a member of the Leadership team for Legal, Compliance, Audit and Sustainability (LCAS).

• Lead the Insurance Advisory Legal Team, which is a trusted advisor to the Core lines business, interfaces with state insurance offices, customers and assists with regulatory filings.
• Provide legal support for the Government Relationship team, which focuses on the interactions with state and local governments related to insurance
• Provide anti-trust subject matter expertise for the Legal department, particularly as it relates to insurance related issues
• Collaborate with the rest of the LCAS Leadership team to achieve LCAS mission and goals
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum seven (7) years legal experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) industry;
• Extensive experience in reviewing and drafting insurance policy provisions for various P&C lines of insurance, with in-depth knowledge of ISO insurance programs highly preferred;
• Advanced knowledge of insurance statutes and regulations among the several states, with knowledge of laws applicable to advisory and rate service organizations preferred;
• Strong familiarity with insurance manuals, rating systems, and interplay with insurance policy forms, and knowledge of advisory prospective loss costs preferred;
• Demonstrated experience in successfully engaging with insurance regulators on insurance filing issues and other regulatory matters, including market conduct exams;
• Knowledge of intellectual property laws, especially copyright and trade secret laws, and experience with securing confidentiality protections in connection with insurance regulatory filings;
• Familiarity with antitrust laws, especially in relation to the insurance industry; and
• JD from accredited law school and licensed and in good standing in a relevant US jurisdiction and eligible for in-house counsel license in NJ.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, the successful candidate will be able to clearly and concisely provide advice to cross functional teams
• Superior collaboration and teamwork skills, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of establishing Rapport with diverse groups of stakeholders
• Commercially minded and organized, the preferred candidate will seamlessly work closely with a variety of business units
• Experienced developer of talent with a demonstrated history of leading both mature and new teams
