Assistant Fund Controller - Credit Hedge Fund (NYC)

Our client is a premier $15bn AUM credit hedge fund based in NYC. They are seeking an experienced Fund Accounting Assistant Controller to manage and oversee the accounting operations for one of their credit funds. This role is ideal for a driven professional with a strong background in hedge fund accounting and a CPA certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily fund accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
• Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Oversee the calculation and review of Net Asset Value (NAV) for assigned funds
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes for assigned funds
• Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits and tax filings
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard fund assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
• Provide detailed analysis and reporting on fund performance and investment activities
• Assist in the development and enhancement of accounting policies, procedures, and systems
• Work closely with portfolio managers, traders, and other internal teams to support investment strategies and operational needs
• Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and other industry standards

Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA certification required
• 2-6 years of total experience in accounting, with a focus on credit funds at a hedge fund
• Public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 firm
• Strong knowledge of hedge fund accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
