As a key member of our design team, the Assistant will work closely with the Design Director, contributing to the growth of our Off-Brand apparel lines across Womens, Men’s and Children’s categories that are featured in major retailers. This role offers a unique opportunity to design across all categories including Active & Contemporary tops and bottoms in both cut and sew knits and wovens. This position will use exceptional design skills, knowledge of the current market and identifying trends to create innovative and commercially viable products from conception to production.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of brand-right, commercial designs that reflect the conceptual direction.
  • Create flat sketches and CAD using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Provide clear specifications for construction. 
  • Partner with technical design on fit and execution of prototypes, assisting with scheduled fittings and necessary follow-up.
  • Track and organize development samples, ensuring they are delivered within required timelines and seamlessly passed off to key parties.
  • Participate in research and development of seasonal trends.
  • Knowledge of repeat patterns, textile printing and yarn dyes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising on creativity or accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with exceptional skills in Illustrator.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with the design team and articulate concepts to overseas team.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the apparel industry.
  • Strong understanding of fashion trends.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Team-player who is eager to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
